Our Team

Leila Osman


Leila Osman is an educator who has taught Islamic Studies for more than 15 years at Islamic Schools and youth groups. She has a Master’s in school leadership from the University of Michigan. In 2013 she started an educational muslim youth organization to make Islamic learning more accessible. She has spent much time teaching and more recently developing Islamic Studies curriculum that can be used by any Islamic Studies instructor or mentor. She loves to engage students in a structured and enjoyable manner in order to create lasting memories.

Safa Younus

Program Administrator

Safa Younus is a mother to 5 children with over 20 years of homeschooling experience, from primary levels until college. She has taught Islamic Studies to girls ages 6-16 at her local Saturday school and is working towards her Islamic Studies Teacher Certification through Ribaat Academic Institute. Safa has been Administrator of Blessed Bonds & Iron Faith for over 6 years, and continues with her goal to help provide educational programming to Muslim youth of all ages around the world.

Fatimah Ghouse

Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

Fatimah was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and is a recent graduate from the University of Illinois-Chicago with a B.S. in Neuroscience. As a part of the Marketing & Outreach team, she conducts research on masajid all over the US and updates the Monarch Academy website. Fatimah is an IFS graduate who has continued her Islamic learning by attending multiple weekly halaqas, and loves to bake and read in her free time.

Hebah Hussain

Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

Hebah was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. She graduated from IFS in Villa Park, IL, and has a B.S. in Biology and a Masters in Public Health. She is currently living in Massachusetts and is involved with the Muslim community there through halaqas, Islamic classes, and evening programs hosted by the local masajid. She is a member of the Monarch Marketing & Outreach team, assists with data collection and administrative work, and manages all of the Monarch Academy social media pages.

Mohammad Shukairy

Curriculum Writer & Researcher

​Dr. Shukairy is a practicing neurosurgeon in northwest Indiana. He was born and raised in the Detroit metropolitan area. He has a history of Islamic interaction with youth, as he served in many different Islamic organizations in multiple capacities including – MSA, MYNA, HIRA, MMYC, AOF, and local mosques. He led youth groups for boys in both Detroit and Chicago. He has studied the Quran and many of the Islamic sciences in Syria and with mentors/teachers in Michigan. He hopes to impart some of what he was able to learn and gain growing up.

Saba Umer

Curriculum Developer & Writer

​Saba Umer has taught elementary and middle school language arts, as well as Islamic and social studies for over 15 years. She is a certified training and development specialist, who has worked with Kumon learning centers, cooperative homeschooling organizations, Islamic schools, and financial institutions, designing curriculum and instructional materials for both education and corporate sectors. She is also a freelance writer with notable works in multiple scholastic and lifestyle publications. Inspired by her students to bring creativity to classrooms, she is a learner and explorer, always in search of that next neat idea.

Kate Bridges -Lyman

Curriculum Developer & Writer

Kate is a graduate from the University of Chicago (MDiv) and currently writes, edits, proofreads, and designs our curriculum.

Mubeen Husain

Curriculum Editor

Mubeen was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs and earned a BA in Political Science and Religion and an MA in Social Studies and English Education. She has taught various subjects including Islamic Studies, Social Studies, English, and Writing for several grade levels for over twelve years and has trained educators on the implementation of writing curricula and integrating technology within the classroom. She has a keen interest in learning and teaching Islamic Studies, especially the Seerah.

Tayyaba Syed

Curriculum Developer & Writer

Tayyaba Syed is a multiple award-winning author, journalist and storyteller, who has written for 20+ children’s book titles including The Blessed Bananas and Hafsa’s Kisses. She has been an educator for over 16 years and received her teacher certification in Islamic studies through the Ribaat Academic Institute, offering many diverse classes and workshops for all ages. She also serves as an elected member of her local school district’s Board of Education.

Ismaeel Ghouse

Islamic Content Researcher

Ismaeel was raised in the Chicagoland area and currently works as an electrical engineer. He studies Islamic Sciences at Darul Qasim College which he has attended since 2015. He is on track to complete the Bachelors equivalent in Islamic Law and Theology and is also taking classes in the Advanced Program equivalent to a Masters in Islamic Law and Theology.

Faisal Y.

Technology Consultant

Faisal has 22 years experience in IT. He created and maintains the Monarch Academy website as well as the original Blessed Bonds website. He enjoys learning new skills, designing websites, and making things work. To learn more, visit his personal web site at
